Former president Mbeki pays tribute to last remaining Rivonia trialist Mlangeni

Date:

Former South African president Thabo Mbeki has paid tribute to Andrew Mlangeni, a political activist, anti-apartheid campaigner and human rights defender who, along with Nelson Mandela and others, was imprisoned after the infamous Rivonia Trial.

Mbeki described Mlangeni as a distinguished, exceptional and morally conscious leader who fought for the liberation and emancipation of the black majority from the oppressive apartheid system.

The former South African leader appealed to the ANC to honour Mlangeni’s legacy by living up to the values and principles he lived up to, of shunning corruption, nepotism and mismanagement of national funds.
