“Jail has changed him” – rape convicted Kwaito star Brickz turns to God

Kwaito star Brickz, who was convicted of raping his niece in 2013, has reportedly found God while behind bars, with the South African musician reportedly set to release a gospel album upon his release from prison.

Brickz, real name Sipho Ndlovu, is serving his 15-year jail term at Leeuwkop Maximum facility after he raped his 17-year-old relative in 2013.

Brickz, who was sentenced in 2017, is expected to be eligible for parole soon after serving half his sentence.

According to a source who spoke with TshisaLIVE, the Tjovitjo hitmaker said he is looking forward to his release.

“Mabrigado is in high spirits and focusing on his release from prison. The wardens and inmates are always dazzled by his music since he is part of the choral group.

“He is optimistic one day the prison gates will open for him as a changed man. People will be shocked as he wants to drop a gospel project once he’s free,” said the source.

“Jail has changed him. He went back to the genre (gospel) he used to be in. Music fans will fall in love with him once he’s released.”

Brickz’s conviction on rape charges brought to the fore the callous behaviour of some men in the limelight, with the victim saying she was “bleeding with anger” over what the Kwaito kingpin had done to her.

“It is heartbreaking that I will never be able to be proud of myself. You took away my happiness. Every night I cry and ask myself what did I ever do to you?” read part of the statement.

The victim said she took Brickz as a father, but he “destroyed” her life.
