Ugandan businesswoman and Young, Famous & African star Zari Hassan has responded to days of online speculation over her appearance, insisting she did not undergo a full facelift after a dramatic new look ignited debate on social media.
The controversy began after Zari shared photos and videos on Instagram showing a noticeably lifted eye area. The images quickly prompted claims that the socialite had undergone extensive facial cosmetic surgery, with fans comparing her latest appearance to previous photographs.
Addressing the rumours, Zari explained that the striking look was largely created by a “foxy eye” make-up technique attempted by her make-up artist. She said the experimental style did not produce the intended result and exaggerated the appearance of her eyes, fuelling speculation that she had gone under the knife.
Although she denied having a full facelift, Zari acknowledged that she recently underwent a temporal brow lift, a minor cosmetic procedure that subtly lifts the outer portion of the eyebrows. She stressed that the treatment is far less invasive than a traditional facelift and does not involve the extensive surgical techniques associated with full facial rejuvenation.
The 45-year-old said the procedure was simply one of several small enhancements she has chosen as she gets older, adding that she has never undergone major facial plastic surgery. She maintained that her natural features remain unchanged and rejected suggestions that she had dramatically altered her appearance.
Zari also defended the decision to make subtle cosmetic improvements, saying people should feel free to pursue treatments that boost their confidence if they choose to do so. She argued that personal appearance is an individual choice and should not be subject to public judgement.
The reality television personality, entrepreneur and mother of five has frequently found herself at the centre of social media discussions over her fashion, lifestyle and relationships. Her latest comments have again divided opinion, with some followers applauding her honesty while others continued questioning cosmetic procedures in the entertainment industry.
