Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz has disclosed that his houses, luxury cars and businesses are all registered in his mother’s name, a revelation that has set social media ablaze and revived comparisons with Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi.

The award-winning singer, born Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, made the announcement while celebrating the birthday of his mother, Sandra Kassim, popularly known as Mama Dangote. Speaking before family and guests, Diamond said everything he owns ultimately belongs to her, describing his mother as the person he trusts above everyone else and his sole next of kin.

The timing of the statement immediately attracted attention because it came only days after fellow singer Zuchu publicly confirmed the end of their long-running relationship. With Zuchu absent from the family celebration, many fans interpreted Diamond’s comments as a possible response to the breakup, although the singer himself presented the arrangement as an expression of gratitude for his mother’s sacrifices rather than a strategy linked to his personal relationships.

Diamond has frequently credited his mother with supporting him through the difficult years before fame transformed him into one of East Africa’s biggest music stars. During the celebration, he said there is no distinction between his property and hers, insisting that his success is inseparable from her role in his life.

His comments quickly reignited comparisons with Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi, whose widely publicised divorce proceedings in 2023 sparked online claims that many of his assets were registered in his mother’s name. While those reports circulated extensively on social media, several aspects of the story were never officially confirmed.

Interestingly, Diamond’s family had embraced the Hakimi comparison years earlier. At the height of the footballer’s media attention in 2023, Mama Dangote jokingly referred to her son as “Hakimi” in an Instagram post, with members of the family joining in on the joke. What was once viewed as playful banter has now resurfaced following Diamond’s latest disclosure.

The announcement has divided opinion online. Some supporters praised the singer for honouring the woman they believe played the biggest role in his rise to fame, while others questioned how practical it would be for all major assets and business interests to be legally registered in another person’s name.

Diamond remains one of Africa’s most successful entertainers, with interests extending beyond music through WCB Wasafi, Wasafi Media and several other business ventures. His latest remarks have once again placed both his personal life and financial decisions under the spotlight, ensuring that discussions surrounding the Bongo Flava star continue long after his latest relationship drama.
