Legendary South African actor Israel Matseke Zulu has had his leg amputated due to a sickness that saw him take a break from acting.
Zulu who recently played the gangster character of Don on Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Gomora, revealed last month that he would be exiting the show due to his struggles with gangrene.
He revealed that he was unable to walk without being helped to balance.
He confirmed the new developments to local publication Sunday World. He said he was recuperating after the operation on his right leg.
Zulu who is famous for his hard hitting ‘Voestek’ revealed last month through his management company Orange and Ice Management that the gangrene ‘had rendered him semi-crippled.”
Sources closes to Zulu said he had the operation two weeks ago at a hospital in Sandton.
Although he was declared dead in the drama series, a source said producers are planning to bring his character back next year, as soon as he makes a full recovery.
