Idols SA judge Unathi fired from Kaya FM over ‘breakdown of trust’

South African singer and Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi has been fired from Kaya FM over what the local radio station called a ‘breakdown of trust.’

In a press statement Kaya Fm said the station was terminating Unathi’s contract with immediate effect.

The station cited that the reason being the termination of the contract was due Nkayi’s conduct at work.

“Nkayi’s contract has ended prematurely due to certain conduct that rendered the relationship intolerable going forward.

“Kaya 959 can confirm that certain incident in the breakdown of the trust relationship between the two parties.

“The business can further confirm that due process was followed and the decision was therefore made to part ways with Nkayi,” read the statement.

The station also added that it will not engage in any arguments on what transpired.

“Safe to state that Nkayi’s version of events have been carefully considered and unfortunately found wanting. Nkayi hosted the Midday Joy show, weekdays 12pm-3pm.”

The station said it will announce Unathi’s replacement in due course.

“A replacement presenter is to be in due course,” Khaya 959 said.

Unathi has not yet responded or issued a statement about her exit.
