South African dancer and socialite Zodwa WaBantu has revealed that she received a message from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) after she recently bought a Lamborghini.
Zodwa opened up to a local news outlet that she received a ‘letter of demand’ from SARS after she posted a video celebrating and revealing her new Italian ride, a Lamborghini Aventador worth over R8 million (US$ 542,660).
Zodwa said she was going to meet her accountant this afternoon and discuss the issue.
“I am meeting with my accountant this afternoon at 2pm. I am not educated so I just forwarded him the SMS, so he can advise me accordingly,” said Zodwa.
The TV reality star now politician said she could not confirm nor deny buying the car.
“My accountant will advise me on the way forward,” she said.
However, Kenny Kunene, a controversial politician and businessman who recently signed Zodwa into his political party said Zodwa will not buy the car anymore.
“Zodwa has decided not to buy the car anymore because after she posted the video she got a call from SARS demanding to meet with her,’ said Kunene.
“It is said that in this country, you can’t freely celebrate getting yourself anything without anyone hovering around you,” he added.
Earlier this week the dancer was in high spirit as she went on social media showcasing her new ride which was wrapped in a red ribbon, but her joy has been cut short by the revenue authority.
Last year in December Zodwa announced that she would be selling her branded eggs, from the look of things the business is surely doing well. Most South African celebrities have shown support by purchasing crates from her.
Earlier this month Zodwa went big as she joined Kenny Kunene’s political party.
