South Africa – Former national team player Reneilwe Letsholonyane could find himself out in the cold soon, after a bank set in motion plans to repossess his home after he failed to keep up with payments for his R1 million mansion.
According to The South African, Letsholonyane has found himself in trouble as he has arrears amounting to R450 000. In addition, the former Bafana star has municipal levies that have brought the overall amount owed to R730 000.
With Letsholonyane reportedly failing to respond to Letters of Demand, Standard Bank’s manager for home services collections has reportedly lodged a legal appeal which states that the bank has no choice but to apply for an execution order.
“A warrant for attached and ultimate sale in execution will not be possible without the court granting an order authorising the execution against the property.
“The nature of the debt is monies lent and advanced, secured by a mortgage bond registered over the immovable property of Reneilwe Letsholonyane. The amount of his debt is contained in the relevant mortgage loan agreement,” court the papers read.
Responding to the allegations, Letsholonyane said he did not understand why he was in the bank’s crosshairs as he had made it clear that he wanted to sell the property.
“I am trying to sell the property privately, so it’s not true that I have not been communicating with them. I have been telling them throughout the process,” he said.
