The family of the late South African rapper Costa Titch is still waiting for a toxicology report that will confirm the exact cause of his death, as they do not believe that he died from an epileptic seizure.
The 28-year-old rapper died suddenly after collapsing at the Ultra Music Festival at the Nasrec Expo Centre on 11 March last year.
After his passing, there were reports that medical negligence was to blame for Costa Titch’s death, as there was a lack of adequate medical personnel on the scene after he collapsed.
Ultra SA and Altor Emergency Medical Services, which was contracted to provide medical assistance at the event, have denied these allegations.
In an interview with the Citizen, the rapper’s mother Lara Langeveld, described their life since the passing of the rapper as “a long ongoing nightmare”.
She maintained that the family would continue to wait for the toxicology report, as they did not believe the cause of death that was initially reported.
“Speculation is dangerous so we will wait for toxicology results. Science cannot be argued or speculated,” said Langeveld.
Costa Tich’s mother added that they would be guided by what the report said.
“I prayed for answers and I have faith that toxicology results will come soon…toxicology results will determine the next course of action,” said Langeveld.
After the rapper’s death last year, Langaveld made it clear that they would be digging further to find the true cause of his demise.
“I promise you, my son, that I will not rest until I find out what happened to you,” she captioned one Instagram picture posted in his memory.
