Together again! Lovebirds Dr Nandipha, Thabo Bester reunited in court

SOUTH AFRICA – Lovebirds Dr Nandipha Magudumana and convicted rapist Thabo Bester were reunited again in court, as they appeared at the Bloemfontein High Court on Wednesday on charges that include fraud, corruption, assisting an inmate escape, and the violation of dead bodies.

The two have made headlines in the past for their flirtatious behaviour in court, with their interactions making a mockery of Magudumanaโ€™s claim that she had been taken against her will by Bester.

This time however, Magudumana seemed to give her lover the cold shoulder, completely ignoring him for the majority of their time in court.

The twoโ€™s appearance on Wednesday came as the family of Katlego Mothusi Bereng, the man who was discovered burnt beyond recognition in Besterโ€™s cell, appealed to the court to not let the case drag and prolong their agony.

“We want the High Court to dig deeper into how Katleho became a scapegoat in Thabo Bester’s complicated prison escape,โ€ family spokeswoman Poppie Bereng told Daily Sun.

โ€œHow did they identify him? Who managed to hit him with a strong object before he was smuggled into cell 35 where Bester was convicted for life imprisonment in the Mangaung Correctional Centre. This was under the fully armed British security company, G4S.โ€

Bereng likened their search for justice to that of the family of Senzo Meyiwa.

“We’re still traumatised. Katleho’s brutal murder caused a lifetime pain in the family’s hearts. We were expecting a lot from him. He was a good father to his daughters. He didn’t deserve to be killed like a dog.

“We want whoever participated in his murder to rot in jail. What we’ve seen in the Senzo Meyiwa’s case is an indirect punishment.

“Senzo’s father died waiting for justice. We don’t want to be the second victims of justice. We’ve seen lawyers withdraw from representing Bester which gives us a concern about a delay in the matter,” said Popie.
