HARARE – Newly acquired Yadah Football Club winger Khama Billiat is set to become the highest paid player in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) after signing a lucrative deal with the Miracle Boys.
The ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star will earn a staggering US$3 500 per month, Nehanda Radio has learnt.
Billiat who has been heavily linked with Dynamos, opted to sign for Yadah after the prophet Walter Magaya owned club reportedly offered an attractive deal.
The ambitious PSL side sponsored by renowned gold dealer Scott Pedzisai Sakupwanya, reportedly offered a US$20 000 signing on fee and a monthly salary of US$3 500 to lure free agent Billiat.
“He signed for US$20 000 and will get a monthly salary of US$3 500,” a source close to the player told Nehanda Radio.
On top of the whooping sign on fee and a staggering monthly salary, the source also added that the deal involves other benefits.
“Apart from the $20 000 sign on fee and $3 500 monthly salary, as part of the deal, Billiat will be given a flat and a car.”
Billiat arrived in the country on Tuesday night from South Africa where he had spent over a decade plying his trade in the South African top flight league.
Reports initially suggested that the 33-year-old forward was jetting in to join PSL giants Dynamos.
However, a surprise twist of things took place and the former Warriors vice captain was welcomed by the Yadah officials and sponsors at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
Despite that the Dynamos officials were also present at the airport, Billiat left with the Prophet Magaya and Sakupwanya’s convoy of top of the range cars heading to Yadah’s base to complete his new deal.
The diminutive midfielder will be unveiled by Yadah who survived relegation last season on Thursday.
