Zakes Bantwini’s Osama makes history, maintains number 1 for 10 weeks

South African singer and DJ Zakes Bantwini has made history in South Africa as the first musician to top local radio charts for 10 consecutive weeks.

His newly released smash hit single Osama has maintained the number 1 spot on local radios for 10 weeks.

Bantwini’s PR team confirmed in a statement that the British music Company that tracks worldwide radio and TV airplay, Radiomonitor revealed that Osama is the first and only single in history of it’s establishment to retain the top spot for 10 weeks on South African radio charts.

“This is inclusive of both international and local songs released in the past five years since the launch of Radiomonitor,” read part of the statement.

“The song beat the record of songs like Prince Kaybee’s ‘Fetch Your Life’, and Silk Sonic, who has 12 non-consecutive weeks as number 1 on the RAMS chart,” it said.

Osama begun trending on social media social media in early September before its official release on the 10th day of that month after Bantwini posted a video of himself playing the song at DJ Shimza’s Kunye party.
