Netflix’s first fully fledged African production Queen Sono has been renewed for a second second season, with its leading actress, South African beauty Pearl Thusi, making a return to social media to celebrate the latest development.
Although plagued by piracy, the Netflix spy series was one at point the most streamed series in South Africa and Kenya, while it was almost always near the top of the chats in most of Africa.
Despite the success of the series and the ongoing tightly enforced lockdown in South Africa, the former “Quantico” star mysteriously deactivated all her social media accounts leaving her fans very confused.
She made her return with the announcement of the renewal of the second season of the series.
After it’s premiere, production earned the praise of global stars like Nigerian superstar Davido and actress Gabrielle Union.
Union also praised Thusi for her charity work and for being a wonderful friend.
“There aren’t enough characters available for me to describe everything this woman has done for the world and accomplished!
“She’s the kind of woman to pop up at my birthday dinner at my favourite Mexican spot when I thought she was out the country. I’m so inspired by all the work she does.”
