Belgium all-time record goalscorer Romelu Lukaku conceded he is open to leaving Manchester United for a current European giant with a ‘great project’ in place.
Lukaku, 25, has started all ten of the Red Devils league fixtures in the 2018/19 campaign thus far, yielding four goals.
While his form in the Premier League under manager Jose Mourinho has come under the spotlight, the robust Belgian striker has been in sensational form in national team colours.
His brace over Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League on Friday took his overall tally to 45 goals in 78 caps.
While there have been no suggestions that Lukaku wants to leave Old Trafford before the end of his current deal, which expires in 2022, he’s openly admitted his admiration for Serie A champions Juventus.
When asked if he would be open to a future move to Italy, Lukaku told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Why not? I hope it happens.”
Lukaku also called Juventus one of the top sides in Europe, with United set to host the Italians in the Champions League group stages next week before travelling to Turin in November.
“Juve have a great project in place and they just keep going. Every year they try to get stronger,” the former Anderlecht striker added. “Without doubt, Juve are one of the two or three best teams in Europe.
“They’ve got a great coach on the bench and extraordinary players in every area of the team.
“Cristiano Ronaldo stands out, but watch out for the others too. Paulo Dybala is already impressive and getting stronger, while I love Douglas Costa.” KickOff.
