Aid agencies are scrambling to reach survivors of Cyclone Idai, which swept through Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe last week, destroying towns and villages in its path.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has deployed soldiers to assist in recovery operations in neighboring Mozambique, which has been badly hit by Cyclone Idai, News24 reports.
People living in one of Mozambique's largest cities have been cut off by a huge storm. Cyclone Idai, which is carrying heavy rains and winds of up to 170 km/h (106 mph), made landfall at the port city of Beira on Thursday evening.
