South African music sensation Tyla has etched her name deeper into the history books after becoming the first artist to accumulate 100 weeks at the top of Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.

The landmark achievement was confirmed by music analytics platform Chart Data after Tyla’s latest hit, “Is It Love,” climbed to No. 1, extending an extraordinary run of chart success that has spanned multiple singles.

The Johannesburg-born singer has dominated the chart with a succession of hits, including “Water,” “Push 2 Start,” “Chanel,” and now “Is It Love.” Together, the songs have delivered a cumulative 100 weeks at the summit—an achievement no other artist has managed since Billboard introduced the U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.

Tyla’s global breakthrough came with “Water,” which spent a record 55 weeks at No. 1 and became one of the biggest crossover hits ever by an African artist. Rather than fading after that success, she continued her dominance with a string of chart-topping releases that cemented her position as one of the continent’s leading international stars.

The latest milestone arrives just weeks before the release of her eagerly awaited second studio album, A*Pop, which is scheduled to arrive later this month. The project will include the successful singles “Chanel” and “Is It Love,” both of which have already enjoyed strong commercial performances worldwide.

Since emerging on the international stage, Tyla has consistently broken new ground for South African music. She became the youngest African artist to win a Grammy Award and the first performer to win the Best African Music Performance category twice, while also establishing herself as one of Africa’s most successful global pop exports.

Fans flooded social media with congratulatory messages after the latest announcement, celebrating another historic achievement for the singer whose unique blend of amapiano, pop and R&B has earned audiences across the world.

Reaching 100 cumulative weeks at No. 1 underlines Tyla’s remarkable consistency and staying power. Far from being defined by a single viral hit, the 23-year-old has built sustained chart success that continues to elevate South African music and expand the global reach of African artists.
