Slikour and wife ask for privacy after divorce, abuse allegations emerge

South African musician and media personality Slikour and his wife, Melissa Wilkinson have asked for privacy after reports that she was close to divorcing him for his cheating emerged over the weekend.

The report came only a few months after Slikour, real name Siyabonga Metane, and Wilkinson celebrated their five-year anniversary with gushing posts about each other.

In a joint statement, shared on Sunday, the couple said they were aware of the allegations and wanted to work through them privately.

“We have been married for over five years, and as with every marriage, we have our own trials and tribulations to face and overcome. While we acknowledge these challenges, we also would like the opportunity to work through them privately,” read the statement.

“As parents, we are both very committed to building a happy and healthy home not only for ourselves but most importantly for our children. We request that our marriage and family be treated with respect and sensitivity, allowing us our right to privacy.”

While it had seemed as if all was well in paradise, Sunday World alleged that Wilkinson was ready to pull the plug on the marriage because she was lonely as Slikour devoted most of his time to his career.

She further protested that Slikour also sidelined her in making crucial family decisions and hardly communicated.

“Melissa tried to fight for her marriage and to convince him to include her in decision-making, but he ignored her and continued to make unilateral decisions.

“She is one of the women who believe that a couple, especially husband and wife, should collectively discuss issues before a decision is taken. When Slikour sidelined her, she was hurt and decided to throw in the towel,” said a source that spoke to the paper.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was the discovery that the Skwatta Kamp star was involved in an extra-marital affair.

“She said this man was cheating on her, and that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. She said she was heartbroken when she discovered that Slikour was cheating on her,” said the tipster.
