COSATU says it will support a lift in alcohol ban with strict rules – VIDEO

Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) has thrown its weight to support the alcohol ban to be lifted to save hundreds of thousands of workers that depend upon the liquor sector.

Matthew Parks COSATU’s parliamentary coordinator says they support a gradual sale of alcohol under strict conditions to ensure that consumers drink responsibility and avert a surge in crime and Covid-19 infections.

Parks appealed to alcohol consumers to drink responsibility if the ban is lifted citing that the government was limited to police the consumption trends.
