Lidoda Duvha, who have previously turned down opportunities to sign experienced defenders Thapelo Tshilo, Ayanda Gcaba and Thabiso Semenya, have been looking to bolster their squad – particularly in defence – following their slow start to the season.

They’ve taken the opportunity to sign Katjiukua, who was previously on the books of Golden Arrows and Highlands Park.

The 31-year-old was part of the Highlands side that won promotion to the Absa Premiership from the National First Division last season. Not only was he a key figure in defence, but he was a threat upfront whenever Highlands had set-piece opportunities in the opposition’s half.

Leopards, who are currently in 12th place on the Absa Premiership standings, have the worst defensive record in the league with 12 goals conceded in eight matches.

Coach Joel Masutha will no doubt be addressing this during the international break, to ensure they improve at the back.

Katjiukua’s experience will come in handy once PSL football resumes after the recess.

Lidoda Duvha, meanwhile, have been assessing former Platinum Stars defender Sphamandla Mlilo, who can play in central defence or at left-back. KickOff.
