Berita Khumalo’s ex hubby Nota Baloyi faces rape allegations in South Africa

Must read

SOUTH AFRICA – Nota Baloyi, the South African music mogul and the former husband to Zimbabwean-born songbird, Berita Khumalo, is facing fresh legal trouble after singer and actress Itumeleng Bokaba accused him of rape.

Last week, Nota found himself in the eye of a storm after Bokaba revealed that she had earned less than R1 for her work on Kwesta’s smash hit song Mayibabo.

She claimed that she had been swindled by Baloyi, who she had entrusted to look after her interests.

Subsequently, controversial blogger Musa Khawula revealed that Bokaba had filed charges against the music mogul.

In a statement, the actress and singer said that the two matters were unrelated.

“I know everyone is concerned and panicked right now but I want to assure you that I’m okay… This situation occurred before the  ‘Mayibabo’ saga that made headlines last week, and it is not connected to that issue, other than unfortunate timing and overlap of people involved,” the statement read.

In an updated statement, the Rhythm City actress stated that she was not interested in commenting further on the matter as she is putting her faith and trust in the justice system, and would like to see the whole process through.

In his defense, Baloyi claimed that the two had a mutual encounter which was initiated by Bokaba.

“Anything that happened was consensual and was initiated by her,” he said.

Baloyi also claimed that the actress had tried to extort him, leading him to seek a protection order. He also claimed that Bokaba had demanded to see his parents or else she would blackmail him with sexual abuse allegations.

“I introduced her to my parents, or else she would publicly humiliate me and accuse me of raping her,” Baloyi wrote in the protection order.
