The defence team representing the five men in the dock for killing South African footballer Senzo Meyiwa have accused the officer that collected evidence from one of them of being inexperienced and making numerous blunders that comprised the quality of what he gathered.

A police officer called in to testify this week, allegedly withheld evidence that placed the men suspected of killing slain South African footballer Senzo Meyiwa at the scene of the crime for ‘four or five years’, denying crucial information to investigators that have been trying to solve the case for the past decade.

Kelly Khumalo will not be called in to testify in the ongoing inquiry into the murder of former South African national team goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa, with prosecutor, advocate George Baloyi, on Monday confirming to the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria that the state would not be calling her in as a witness.

Contrary to past reports and rumours, Zandile Khumalo told the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria that the late South African national team goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was not shot while he was trying to break up a fight between her and Chicco Twala’s son, Longwe Twala.

Defence lawyer Malesela Teffo has told the High Court in Pretoria that it was singer Kelly Khumalo who allegedly mistakenly shot her lover and football star Senzo Meyiwa in 2014.
